1. Shanghai Maglev
When we are talking about the fastest trains in the world, then we can start with the Shanghai Maglev which occupies the first place in the list of 10 fastest trains of the world. It has the maximum operational speed of 430km/h and it runs with an average speed of 251km/h. This high-speed train started its operation commercially in April 2004. This train runs on the Shanghai-Maglev route which is 30.5 kilometers long. One can imagine how much time is taken to reach the destination by this train. It reaches in a glimpse. This train service is operated by the Shanghai Maglev Transportation Development Company or SMTDC and it was designed by the joint work of Siemens and ThyssenKrupp.
2. Harmony CRH 380A
Now move to the second one which is called as Harmony CRH 380A that runs with the maximum speed of 380km/h. This is the second fastest train of the world after Shanghai Maglev. The trial operation was done in the year of 2010 on the Shanghai-Hangzhou intercity high-speed railway where it made a record of 486.1 km/h top speed. This started operation in December 2010 and now it is running between Beijing and Shanghai. This train is vibration free and was designed by CSR Qingdao Sifang Locomotive & Rolling Stock.
3. AGV Italo
This train is the first entry in the AVG series with a maximum operational speed of 360 km/h on the track. It has started its service from 2012. During the testing, it broke the record with a speed of 574.8 km/h in April 2007. The previous two were from the Asian country China. This train is from Europe and it is considered to be the most advanced and modern train of Europe. It was built by Alstom and now is running on the Napoli – Roma – Firenze – Bologna – Milano passage.
4. Siemens Velaro E or AVES 103
It is again a European train which operates in Spain. The train is called AVES 103 in Spain. This train is the fastest series production high-speed train till now in the world. It attained enormous speed of approximately 400 km/h during the test run. This train runs with the average speed of 350 km/h. This high-speed train was arranged by Spanish National Railways Renfe and runs on the Barcelona-Madrid track. The train started its operation from June 2007.
5. Talgo 350 or T350
If we are going more through the list, we can get another fastest train which runs on the Spanish track. It is the Talgo 350 which entered the service with the name of RENFE AVE Class 10. This train achieved a speed of 365 km/h during the test run and it has a maximum commercial speed of 350 km/h. The project was developed by Tren Articulado Ligero Goicoechea Oriol and the train was made by Patentes Talgo in a collaborative work with Bombardier Transportation. The train started its journey in 2005 and now it has more than 46 operating trains of that series.
6. E5 Series Shinkansen Hayabusa
Now let’s go to Japan. There you can see the E5 Series ShinkansenHayabusa trains which started its journey in 2011. These fastest trains had a maximum speed of 300 km/h initially which has increased to 320 km/h. However, after different modifications the fastest trains in Japan has achieved the maximum speed of 400 km/h during the test runs. The series was manufactured by the Kawasaki Heavy Industry and Hitachi and the East Japan Railway Company operates the trains.
7. Alstom Euroduplex
The Alstom-built Euroduplex is the most advanced generation of TGV Duplex.This series has entered the service of railways in 2011. It has been told that the series would have only double decker trains. The trains are serving the transportation in the European networks. The trains have an average speed of 320 km/h. It can carry about 1020 passenger which is double of its predecessor.
8. TGV Duplex
It is the predecessor of the above mentioned Alstom built Euroduplex. This TGV Duplex was made during 1196-2004. Now they are operated by the SNCF. The TGV Duplex was made by the same manufacturer of Alstom Euroduplex. The train can run with a maximum speed of 300-320 km/h.
9. ETR 500 Frecciarossa Trains
This series of fastest trains have entered in the railway transportation in 2008. It was designed in a manner so that it can achieve the maximum speed of 360 km/h. The trains are currently running with a speed of 300 km/h on the speed lines. The trains are well equipped by the climate control and the perfect insulation to get rid of the vibration and sounds.
10. THSR 700T
